The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society will perform the Southern Maryland Premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's REQUIEM. The work includes soloists (tenor, soprano, and boy soprano), choral sections, live orchestra with organ, and more.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, renowned composer of such musical theatre works as "The Phantom of the Opera", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Evita", and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" among others, composed his version of the Latin Requiem Mass and dedicated it to his father, William Lloyd Webber, who died in 1982. The work achieved a Grammy Award for "best classical composition" in 1986.
Seldom performed, the Southern Maryland community has the opportunity to enjoy this work as performed by the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
